Oral And Maxillofacial Challenges

Wisdom Teeth, Dental Implants and other Minor Oral Procedures

Dental implants offer several benefits over traditional dentures. Implants provide permanent natural looking solution for missing teeth unlike dentures which can slip and require frequent adjustments. With implants Dr Anirudh will place titanium post into your jawbone ensuring that the new tooth feels and functions like your natural teeth. Implant also help preserve jaw bone health, preventing bone loss that can occur with missing teeth.

These are generally not painful as they are performed under local anaesthesia. Dr Anirudh uses advanced techniques to minimize any discomfort and ensure the procedure is comfortable. After the procedure you may experience mild swelling, bruising or soreness around the site which can be managed by aftercare instructions provided by Dr. Anirudh.

Dr. Anirudh offers a range of minor oral procedures including gum disease treatment, bone grafting, abscess drainage, cyst removal and so on. Each procedure is designed to address specific oral health concerns with precision and care.

Facial Fracture

Recovery time varies depending on the severity of the fracture and the type of treatment. Minor fractures may heal in a few weeks, while more complex fractures may take several months. With appropriate treatment and care, the long-term effects of facial fractures can be minimized. We take every measure to ensure that you heal fully and regain full functionality of your face by providing you with a customized recovery timeline during your consultation.

We use minimally invasive techniques whenever possible, and any scars are placed in discreet locations, such as inside the mouth or along natural skin lines, to minimize visible scarring.

Most patients are able to resume normal eating and speaking after swelling subsides. However, a soft food diet and avoiding chewing on certain sides of the mouth may be necessary during the early stages of recovery.

Jaw Cysts and Tumors

Not all cysts or tumors require surgery. Some may be managed with non-invasive methods, but in most cases, surgery is the most effective treatment. While most jaw cysts and tumors are benign (non-cancerous), some may be malignant and cancerous. Dr. Anirudh will guide you through the diagnosis and, if necessary, coordinate additional care for cancerous growths. Depending on the type and size of the cyst or tumor, the procedure may involve simple cyst removal or more extensive jaw reconstruction.

Dr. Anirudh’s reconstructive expertise ensures that your jaw’s appearance and functionality are restored as closely as possible to its original form.

Recovery time depends on the complexity of the surgery. Most patients return to normal activities within a few weeks, but more extensive procedures may require several months for full recovery.

Corrective-Jaw Surgery or Orthognathic Surgery

Yes, orthognathic surgery can greatly enhance the balance and symmetry of your face by correcting jaw misalignment. This may improve facial aesthetics, jaw function, and your overall quality of life.

The initial healing period typically lasts 6-8 weeks, but full recovery can take several months. During this time, you will follow a specific care plan, including a soft-food diet and possibly physical therapy for optimal results.

Orthognathic surgery is performed under general anaesthesia, so you will not feel pain during the procedure. After surgery, some discomfort, swelling, and numbness will persist for few days.

Jaw-Joint Disorder or Temporo-Mandibular-Joint TMJ Disorder

Recovery time depends on the type of treatment used. Non-surgical treatments often lead to faster recovery, while surgical options may require a longer healing period. Dr. Anirudh will provide a personalized recovery timeline based on your specific treatment plan.

If left untreated, TMJ disorder can lead to chronic pain, difficulty eating, speaking, and even issues like neck pain or tension headaches. Early treatment can prevent these complications and restore function to your jaw. Lot of people mistake TMJ conditions with ear or head. Do not forget to consult an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon to begin with.

Yes, lifestyle changes such as reducing stress, avoiding excessive jaw movements (like chewing gum), and maintaining good posture can help manage TMJ disorder. Dr. Anirudh may also recommend specific exercises to strengthen the jaw muscles and improve mobility.  To prevent the recurrence of TMJ disorder, it’s important to manage stress, avoid habits like clenching your jaw, and follow Dr. Anirudh’s guidance on exercises or lifestyle adjustments.

Infections of Teeth and Face or Space Infections

Yes, if left untreated, these infections can spread to critical areas like the airway or brain, making prompt treatment vital.

In some cases, minor procedures to drain the infection are necessary, but we aim for minimally invasive solutions whenever possible.

Maintain good oral hygiene, schedule regular dental check-ups such as once in 6 month’s atleast and treat dental issues early to avoid complications.

Facial Reconstructive Surgery

The length of surgery varies depending on the complexity of your condition, but most procedures are completed in a few hours. Dr. Anirudh will give you a more specific time frame during your consultation.

While scarring is a possibility, Dr. Anirudh uses advanced techniques to minimize scars, placing incisions in discreet areas whenever possible. Recovery time varies depending on the surgery, but you can expect a few weeks of healing with possible follow-up visits. Full recovery may take several months.

In many cases, surgery is performed to restore the function of your face, so you should regain the ability to speak and eat as normal after healing. Dr. Anirudh will guide you through any necessary rehabilitation exercises.

Oral Cancer

If you notice any persistent symptoms, it’s essential to see a professional right away. Early detection is key to successful cancer treatment, so don’t wait and schedule an appointment immediately.

We use advanced techniques to minimize scarring, and any visible scars are placed in discreet locations. Microvascular reconstruction also helps restore natural aesthetics to the affected area.

Recovery time varies depending on the extent of surgery, but we will provide a personalized recovery plan. Many patients return to normal activities within a few weeks, though some cases may require more time for healing and rehabilitation.

Facial Pain, Palsy and Nerve disorder

In most cases facial palsy itself is not life threatening. However, is the palsy is caused by an underlying condition such as stroke, tumour or infection it may be indicative of a more serious health issue that needs immediate medical attention. Dr. Anirudh will thoroughly assess your condition to identify any underlying causes and ensure that you receive the appropriate treatment. Early intervention is key to minimise risks.

The treatment is generally not painful especially when managed with local anaesthesia or medication to control discomfort. Non-surgical treatments such as medications or physical therapy are designed to minimise pain and improve symptoms gradually.

For facial palsy improvements may begin within a few weeks of starting physical therapy or medications though full recovery may take a few months. For trigeminal neuralgia you may experience pain relief within days of starting treatment but full results can take time depending on the severity of the condition.

In some cases, minor procedures to drain the infection are necessary, but we aim for minimally invasive solutions whenever possible.

Facial Cosmetics & Hair

For PRP and GFC injections, you may begin to notice improvements within a few months as hair follicles gradually become more active. Full results typically take 6 to 12 months. For hair transplants, initial hair growth can be seen in about 3 to 4 months, with full results appearing within 12 to 18 months.

Non-surgical treatments like PRP and GFC injections typically require little to no downtime, with most individuals resuming their normal activities immediately. Hair transplants require a recovery period of 7 to 10 days, with mild swelling or scabbing, but most individuals are able to return to work in a few days.

Results from botox or dermal fillers are typically visible within a few days to a week. Botox starts to take effect within 3 to 5 days, and dermal fillers provide instant results, though full effects may continue to improve over the next few weeks.
